“I am a better person and a better mum now that I get to sleep at night.”
Anna and Anand, had always been sceptical towards ‘sleep training’
Our baby was a terrible sleeper and after one and a half years we got to a point where we felt we couldn’t go for much longer as it was. Looking back, I wish we had started earlier. We had reached the point where our daughter had to be either fed to sleep, patted to sleep, cuddled to sleep or carried to sleep.
I was always very sceptical towards tradition sleep training methods – I cannot agree with ‘cry-it-out’, or ‘controlled crying’ methods, so I didn’t know there was help out there that was suitable for us. Before I heard about Cheryl I thought that all sleep training would involve lots of crying and denying the basic needs of my baby. I am so lucky a friend told me about Cheryl – a sleep coach that uses a gentle approach.
Cheryl showed us how we can help out little one to sleep independently and calmly. She provided a detailed plan, a schedule, including day naps and evening routine, and also how to deal with night wake ups. Having the opportunity to ask someone at any moment on the was incredibly helpful because there were often moments where I would doubt myself.
We learned how to help our daughter to fall asleep in bed by herself, without feeding, patting, holding hands, or carrying her to sleep. She now goes to sleep without us in the room.
I am a better person and a better mum now that I get to sleep at night.
I believe parents should receive the details of sleep consultants or services through their midwives, early childhood nurses and GPs, but most valuable was being recommended through a friend I trust, as I wouldn’t have understood how unique Cheryl’s approach is, and how she personalises each plan after every family she works with.
